Training Needs Analysis – Building a Training Plan

What is a Training Needs Analysis – everything you ever wanted to know!

Workplace change is a fact of life, and the skills we need to do our jobs are constantly evolving.

myHRdept can conduct a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) for your organisation to help identify your organisational and individual staff development priorities, ensuring you have the right people with the right skills in the right place at the right time.

An effective TNA will clarify skills gaps and help build a training plan, which can aid retention, as well as building organisational capability. Whether you employ 5 people, or 500, a TNA should be a regular part of your HR agenda, and myHRdept can support you to achieve this.

Better still, if you book your TNA in February and conduct it by the end of March, we will give you half the hours involved back! This 50% offer is on a first come, first served basis & conditions apply!

Why should employers do a Training Needs Analysis?

As well as identifying priority development areas, a TNA will also help determine which kind of support would be best suited to achieve them – it’s not always about training courses. A focused TNA will target employee needs and avoid wasting money training employees who don’t need it, or spending money on the wrong type of interventions.

How do you conduct a Training Needs Analysis?

Led by myHRdept’s Head of L&D, we will tailor a skills matrix for your core roles so you can easily assess your staff’s development priorities, identify common development areas (which can often be most economically resourced) and individual needs. From there we will create a training plan for you to discuss and agree with your team.

Our team can help identify cost effective development solutions for you, and you can redeem support hours for any we can deliver in house.

What benefits will we get from completing a TNA?

Effective use of your time & resources

Don’t spend valuable time & money researching, scheduling and paying for training that might not be right, myHRdept’s TNA process will ensure your training plan and solutions align with your goals.

Engage your workforce

A TNA is, in itself, an effective mechanism for employee engagement, letting your employees know you take their development seriously, and are prepared to invest time and resources to enhance their skills.

Separately myHRdept conduct employee engagement surveys, measuring nine different factors that drive performance and engagement. For more, see our website: employee engagement.

Give managers the confidence to manage

A good operator doesn’t necessarily make a good manager, and many management skills are learnt. Some people are natural people managers but even these, and of course those that aren’t naturals, will need some level of development.

Know what skills you need today, and tomorrow

By taking a proactive approach, your TNA can help you identify skills gaps before they even occur, helping maintain high performance through periods of anticipated change.

Assess the effectiveness of training

A well-designed training plan should have clear and measurable outcomes. If your training plan is developed based on the skills identified in your TNA, you can be confident that training solutions will have a positive impact on your organisation.

Enhance your reputation as an employer & give your customers confidence

Last but by no means least, being known as an organisation that encourages learning and development will enhance you reputation as an employer, helping you attract and retain staff, and reassuring your customers that your team have up to date skills.
