People Management Training

The myHRdept People Management Training Certificate is for new and developing people managers, prioritising the fundamental knowledge and skills that will be needed when managing a team.

LEGAL FOCUS: Why should we do this training?

Many managers step up to their roles without being given a rudimentary understanding of employment law and their leadership responsibilities. Training people managers reduces the risk of legal claims, increases team motivation and reduces turnover through a greater awareness of team engagement.

Our People New People Manager programme covers the basic knowledge that managers absolutely need to know when stepping up into a leadership role, and equips them with the skills to handle challenging everyday people management scenarios in a positive and proactive way.

Overview of the myHRdept New People Manager programme

Our team of experienced HR professionals will provide the knowledge and the know-how, taking managers through laws and HR policies, making sure managers know when to seek further advice and how to deal effectively with common HR issues.

Our no-nonsense approach to training ensures that we focus on the things that really matter and that adds most value to participants. Our training is based on our learnings from 20+ years of HR outsourcing, and from supporting the managers of hundreds of SMEs, as well as some of the world’s largest companies.

The programme covers:

  • Employment law – major UK employment laws
  • Contracts and contractual terms, other terms of employment & their interaction with HR policies
  • Discrimination laws – how discrimination can arise in management, dealing with low level discrimination
  • Sexual harassment in the workplace
  • Objective setting
  • Feedback & difficult conversations
  • Positive performance management and underperformance management
  • Differentiating conduct and capability
  • Disciplinary procedures

Delivery of the New People Manager Programme

Tutors (across the programme) include practicing HR staff with substantial experience of supporting people-managers, an ex-Coca-Cola HR Director and a fully qualified HR solicitor.

Our preferred method of delivery is 2 X in-person half day workshops with 6 – 10 attendees. Workshops include practice of key skills – performance management, difficult conversations.

Workshops take place at our offices in Marlow, or client premises.

Pricing for the New People Manager Programme

Non myHRdept / JCHR clients: £3,000 + vat (£150  – £250 per head per session depending on numbers)

myHRdept /JCHR retained clients:25% discount. Available HR package support hours can be also be redeemed – 2.5 hours per attendee per session.
