Absence and Redundancy

In this edition our Jess Whelan, HR Director at myHRdept talks about some common issues being
raised by our clients, she’ll talk about absence, heavily in the news at the moment, and she’ll look at the basics of absence management.

Redundancy queries are also on the rise at myHRdept, Jess also covers some of the essential basics for employers thinking about making redundancies…step 1 of course would be to call us!

You can watch Jess’ video by clicking the icon at the top of the page, or you can read her blog by clicking here.

Top tech trends in HR & free training offer

In our learning and development section Amy has been out looking at the latest in HR systems, and
in particular how Artificial Intelligence is manifesting itself in HR. She also has a great offer of a free training place for any retained client, provided it is booked by the middle of June, I’ll let Amy tell you more in the video, if you’d rather read her blog, the link is here.

(NB we are no longer taking bookings for our People Management Certificate training modules.)

£135,000 award for disability discrimination

Elana rounds up the video edition with a case involving an employee receiving a disability
discrimination award for his employer’s failure to consider reasonable adjustments, this case stemmed from his being asked to stop farting in the office!

If you’d like to read Elana’s blog, you can find it by clicking here.

To round off this edition I wanted to mention quickly our monthly feature on a myHRdept client-entrepreneur.  Every month we’ll profile an entrepreneur, their challenges and their learnings, which can be invaluable for others thinking about starting their own venture. These features contain great learnings from people who have actually been there and done it – this month we cover the owner
of Chobham Adventure Farm, a great business we saw rise out of a muddy Sussex
field – you can read the profile by clicking here.

It’s well worth a read, and, I’m looking for more entrepreneurs and founders to profile. If you’ve created your own organisation, we would love to profile you, so contact me please at bill@myhrdept.co.ukand we’ll do the rest!

See you in June!
