    Following the abolition of the national normal retirement age the National Statistics Office have confirmed that retirement ages are on the way up for both men and women. But is it true that employers can no longer retire older workers?

    2 of our clients reported being effectively threatened and then incited by the CSA to breach employee’s contracts. Their employees then chose to join the dole queue because of the resultant salary deductions. These outcomes were to the detriment of the economy, the dependent children, the fathers and the employers – everybody lost out.     The Government has confirmed that automatic enrolment will begin on time in autumn 2012 and all employers will remain in scope. Small businesses (with less than 50 employees) though will be given additional time to prepare for the implementation of automatic enrolment, and won’t be expected to enrol staff until 2015.
