Flexible Working Policy and Procedure
This policy explains the circumstances in which an employee has the right to request a flexible working arrangement (ie for the care of a child or an adult in the employee's care). Whilst this is only a right to REQUEST and employers are not obliged to agree, they are legally obliged to follow a specific procedure when considering the request. Failure to follow this procedure could lead to a claim in an employment tribunal, regardless of the practicalities of granting the request.
In common with all policies, this policy should be signed by the most senior person responsible for its operation (normally the head of the Company) and all employees should be informed of its contents, with a central copy held on a 'Personnel Policy File' with all of your other policies and procedures. Once you have established this as Company Policy, please ensure you and your employees comply with it.
