Contracts & Offers of Employment: Informal offer to accompany a contract of employment for an EXISTING employees

This letter is designed to accompany a contract of employment or a statement of written particulars of employment. It is an informal letter to explain to an existing employee why you are sending them a contract of employment.

If you are implementing employment contracts or statements for the first time, some of your existing employees may be a little surprised or even suspicious about your motives. This letter is designed to put their minds at rest, explaining that the supply of written terms is a legal requirement and inviting them to let you know if any of the terms appear incorrect. This letter is then, only suitable for existing employees, it is not an offer letter, it does not ask for conditions to be met, nor for evidence of qualifications or the right to work in the UK etc. This is an informal letter and should only be used for existing employees who you are confident satisfy all the pre-existing requirements to work for you.
