Redundancy - First and second individual consultation forms
These editable forms are designed to be used for the first and second individual consultation meetings, essential to demonstrate that the employer has followed a fair redundancy process.
The forms are designed to guide the manager through the process of the 1:1 consultations, ensuring that essential information is covered. They also provide a record of the meetings which should be kept on the employee's file in case the fairness of the redundancy process is later challenged. The forms contain section by section prompts of items that should be discussed, statutory information and space to record issues discussed, comments, suggestions and questions.
We recommend at least 2 individual consultation meetings, followed (in the absence of alternatives arising) by a formal letter of notice of redundancy and, if the employee chooses to appeal, an appeal hearing.
Please see the free '2 minute guide to managing compulsory redundancies (non collective)' in the 2 minute guide section. The 2 minute guide lays out a typical process in sequence and provides links to all relevant myhrdept.co.uk documents needed for managing a redundancy process. These are free to our subscribers, who also are able to make use of our advisory service when managing redundancy and other HR processes.
